First stop was the Chapel of the Transfiguration in the Grand Teton National Park. This was the chapel where leader Andy Lammers got married to Mollie. Their son, Jackson (a third-year MTA camper), was named after the town of Jackson, Wyoming. The rustic chapel had a picture window that showcased an amazing view of the Tetons.
Our trip continued with stops at Colter Bay on Jackson Lake where the boys enjoyed being boys skipping rocks, catching tadpoles, and even a few dunking their heads in the cold lake. They enjoyed a visit to the Colter Bay General Store and before loading up, under Don Silleman’s guidance, attempted to stuff the entire group into a phone booth – recapturing Don’s college days.
We had some good wildlife viewing today with some elk, mule deer, and bison being added to our life lists. Some boys “thought” they saw a bear but that was not documented.
The weather was great. We feasted on pizza and all’s good. Another great day.
