Our last full day

Our final “big” activity of the trip was spending virtually the whole day at Dollywood. We arrived at opening time and stayed until nearly 5. It was a warm day with low humidity so it wasn’t as miserably hot as it could have been. The park was busy but for a summer Saturday, it didn’t seem packed. Some boys tried everything and others were a bit more timid about some of the rides. Most of the boys enjoyed the buffet at Aunt Granny’s and a handful decided to take the other option of taking a lunch stipend and spending more time on the rides and less time eating. All were ready to go by the time we boarded the tram for the ride back to our vans.

We returned to the hotel for a short swim and/or rest before having our final dinner at Cracker Barrel.

And so, the boys are all but packed and are ready to see parents Sunday morning.

It has been a smooth-sailing eight-day trip. We’ve done a lot. Seen a lot. Enjoyed getting to know each other better.

And no one seemed to miss their electronics!

Some boys are already talking about next year. That’s the kind of talk I love to hear.

Thanks for following our adventures.

I never imagined that when I started taking kids on travel trips in 1978 that I would still be taking trips today! It has been a great ride and I'm looking forward to more.

Over the years I've had the fortune to travel across the US several times, visit Canada several times, experienced Alaska, the Bahamas, Mexico, and Europe several times.
