Flash back about five or six weeks ago and we were enjoying our 12--day adventure in the Colorado Rockies. The boys know that if we ever get a sincere compliment from a stranger on our behavior, they'll get a special "treat." It's usually ice cream or a milkshake or something like that. In any given summer we usually get several compliments at the beginning of a trip and fewer and fewer as the trip moves forward. I'm not sure why that is because truthfully...these kids are really well behaved.
But this past summer in Colorado they could never quite get anyone to notice just how good they were. Perhaps it was just the sure size of the group....17 boys and 4 adults. So finally, one day at a Subway for lunch in Divide, Colorado after the boys headed back to the van and elderly couple said, "You know, for a big group they weren't that bad." And that was as close as they got.
But I'm here to tell you, this was a fantastic group of boys and I'm excited that so many of them are going with me next summer to Wyoming & Montana.
And that's a memorable moment in MTA history!
